Saturday July 13th was an historic day for St. Abban’s Adamstown GAA Club when the President of the GAA John Horan cut the ribbon to officially open their 1st pitch in 132 years. The day was a wonderful celebration involving the communities of Adamstown, Newbawn and Raheen. Girls, boys, ladies and men all got the opportunity to play camogie, hurling and football on the new pitch in the brilliant sunshine on Friday evening and Saturday. It was an occasion which brought young and not so young together with smiles on their faces. A large crowd attended the ‘Sports Stars in Conversation’ on Friday night in Coláiste Abbáin. All agreed it was very informative and highly entertaining. Thank you to everyone who brought the project to this stage, who were involved in the preparation and planning, who helped out on the day and who supported the opening. The club look forward to many years of participation, success and enjoyment in the future. A PRAYER FOR THE WEEK by Father Andre Bogaert
When I am hungry, give me someone in need of food;
When I am thirsty, send me someone needing a drink;
When I am cold, send me someone to warm;
When I am grieved, offer me someone to console;
When my cross grows heavy, let me share another’s cross too;
When I am poor, lead me to someone in need;
When I have no time, give me someone I can help a little while;
When I am humiliated, let me have someone to praise;
When I am disheartened, send me someone to cheer;
When I need people’s understanding, give me someone who needs mine;
When I need to be looked after, send me someone to care for;
When I think only of myself, draw my thoughts to another.
A THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK : (Charles Dickens)
Have a heart that never hardens, and a temper that never tires, and a touch that never hurts.
